There are a variety of materials used in making a porch rocker and different styles as available as well. Here are some ideas for the various options and types of finishes and methods of a porch rocker.
Many people choose a wood rocker. The most popular materials used in making a wood rocker are oak, red cedar, teak, or even Brazilian cherry. These rockers will stand up to the outdoor elements well but will eventually need maintenance such as refinishing if they expose to the weather for an extended period. You may choose to paint your rocker or leave it in its natural finish. A popular decorating trend is to theme all the outdoor furniture, whether it be a white wicker theme, teak or cedar theme, or even a rustic theme.
An essential feature of the porch rocker is the comfort level. The methods include the cane back style of rocker, ladder back, or slat back. Some of the rockers have more of an incline in the backrest, while others have more rocking movement. You can increase the comfort of a rocker by buying a cushion to put either on the seat or the seat and the rocker back.
