Have you ever wanted to bring your home closer to nature? One way to do it is by decorating your home with rustic decor. Rustic decor is about furniture with a story, a history, and the kind of furniture that has lines your hand wants to follow as you walk next to a chair or couch. They make you want to find a blanket, curl up and settle in. Rustic decor calls to you to forget your cares and worries to remember simpler times. It welcomes you, reminds you of the past. Modern decor is more about useful lines and bold statements. It lacks the gentle, welcoming feeling that rustic decor offers. Ever walked into a home and been afraid to touch anything or found all of the furniture covered in plastic, to protect the furniture? No such need with rustic decor, the whole point behind it is for each article of furniture to have a story behind it.
Rustic decor furniture is supposed to have scratches, dents, dings, and other imperfections because it adds to the character of the piece and the story behind it. Because rustic decor made out of more natural elements and more natural lines there are few times when you’ll find any matching pieces, no two chairs will be exactly like the grain of the table won’t match, sometimes different woods are used. The log bench is a classic piece of rustic furniture, full of knots, and other oddities that make it distinct and unique from any other part of furniture you might have in your collection. Some of the deformities that show up are checking. Cracking in the wood caused during drying, knots, and still attached bark. The critical thing to remember about the rustic decor is that it’s designed to bring nature into any home, meandering lines, defects, the natural look of wood. Rustic decor is all about a warm, welcoming feeling that gives you a rest from the hustle of modern technology filled the life.
