Really Cool Cache Containers Series: August 2012

This month's really cool cache container takes us to Warren County, New Jersey to a rail-trail in the Blairstown area.  I successfully hunted down another cache in the area, and was poking around in the geocaching.com app for my iPhone, when I saw a nearby cache, which had been "favorited" over a dozen times.  Seeing as it was a short hike from the road, I figured I would give it a try.

The hike was indeed a short one.  I had to cross a stream, which wasn't bad, considering someone had built a makeshift bridge.  I searched the woods for a good ten minutes, keeping in mind, from the description, to be on the lookout for something out of the ordinary.

Then I found it.

Check out that cammo job.  Or, do you not see it?

The top lifted off, revealing directions for use and retrieval of the cache.

I needed to plug a hole in the bottom, and fill the tube with water from the nearby stream...

...to cause the cache to rise to the top!

Got it!

Watch where you stand.

I've only done one of these, but they are really fun. I hope to do more soon.

It's funny- after I did this cache, and wrote up the article, I found another one. That one had more holes, which presented a larger challenge for me, as I was by myself and had only so many fingers.

I'm also inspired to put out a similar cache, only improving on its methods.
