We Interrupt this post for a special bulletin: Spring Turkey season is almost here

Folks,
Spring Turkey season is almost upon us. Please be careful when out in the woods caching. It's a good idea to wear orange while out there.

Remember, as cachers we share the woods with hunters alike. Everyone be safe and have a great spring.

Here are the dates to watch out for:

Spring Gobbler for Junior Hunters:

Special season for eligible junior hunters, with required license, and mentored youth - April 20, 2013. Only 1 spring gobbler may be taken during this hunt.

Spring Gobbler:

April 27-May 31, 2013. Daily limit 1, season limit 2. (Second spring gobbler may only be taken by persons who possess a valid special wild turkey license.)From April 27-May 11, legal hunting hours are one-half hour before sunrise until noon; from May 13-31, legal hunting hours are one-half hour before sunrise until one-half hour after sunset.

Be safe and have fun.

Great advice BigAl! This is when these guys/gals bust out the camogear and get stealthy in a different way than in geocaching. I am not a hunter of turkeys myself (although I have been known to check out a chick now and then, lol)I do respect the sportsman/sportswoman and their rights to enjoy their sport and heritage. In fact I support it! All that money they pay for licenses goes back into the land management to insure easement and natural value for years to come. And the PA State Game Lands are geocache friendly and open to hides without permission. I like that! So good luck all you turkey hunters! Time to plan an urban power run. Give my numbers a boost and get outdoors.
