Where in the world is DCTRSPOTT?

Where in the WORLD is...

DctrSpott

Another friday means another adventure.

So, there I was, a few days ago, reflecting on my one-month anniversary of my move out to west. After being cooped up in my hot and windowless lab, I was out on a neighborhood walk with Boltzmann, reflecting on life in general, and planning my next big adventure. I turned to the west, and what did I see...

Look closer...
See those mountains? So did I. They still have snow on them. So about that time, I said, "Hey, Bolt. There's still snow out there. We're going there soon." Bolt enthusiastically responded by trying to devour a skunk. (Luckily, my recent bouts of e-collar training taught him that screaming "NO!" means he ought to back off.)

I asked around, and discovered this is Medicine Bow Peak. The peak is the highest in Snowy Range, about 30 miles west of my home, and clocks in at just over 12,000 feet (about 3600 meters.) I also got an earfull of good advice and warnings. The area is home to mountain goats, moose, and other critters, unique geology, and prone to sudden, unexpected thunderstorms. Best to start early, I was cautioned, or else I could get caught in an afternoon thunderstorm. Unlike back in northeast PA, intense storms can sneak up on you with as little as 30 minutes warning (making for interesting, drenched hikes.)

Naturally, someone has swooped in and placed plenty of caches in the area, so I'll be investigating those. But check back later in the day: with any luck (and some 3G availability) I'll be posting some pictures from my adventure!

Wish me luck...

Dude, what are you making in that lab, JWH-80? Are you nuts! You need special equipment out there, the elevation is disorientating and the storms come with crashing lighting are dangerous. But, I can't wait to see those pics!
Good luck and have fun......
So, at what point do I call in the rescue team?
